“We have high expectations for fundraising,” Aragon said. “Not only because I have more name awareness than any other announced candidate from any party, but also because I will outwork everyone on the phones.”
Aragon, owner and host of Albuquerque radio station KIVA (ABQ.FM / 1600 AM / www.rockoftalk.com) and popularly known as “The Rock of Talk,” said his experience attracting advertisers to his radio station, in addition to his background in commercial real estate, will give him a leg up in asking for donations.
“I have no problem asking people for money,” Aragon said. “Despite this being a short special election, we expect to raise $4-5 million for this campaign.”
Aragon said that in two days of making calls to donors, he already has received pledges totaling in the high five figures.
