FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE PEGGY MULLER-ARAGON DROPS OUT ALBUQUERQUE, NM, MARCH 4, 2021 – Peggy Muller-Aragon today dropped out of the race for the Republican nomination for New Mexico’s first congressional district. In a letter to the New Mexico Republican Party state central committee members, whose votes will determine the party’s nominee for the special election to replace Deb Haaland, Muller-Aragon stated that her work as an Albuquerque Public School board member prevents her from continuing her run for CD-1. “My priorities will always be the children,” Muller-Aragon stated. “My wholehearted support will be with the person who becomes the CD-1 Republican nominee.” “I congratulate Peggy for her efforts to get Albuquerque’s kids back in school,” said Eddy Aragon (no relation). “Her commitment to education in our city is unequaled.” Haaland received the approval of the Senate Energy and Natural resources Committee today. Her confirmation by the full Senate is expected within the next week, which will trigger the special election to replace her.
